Bathrooms

For nearly 60 years, bathroom renovations have been one of the home improvement services most requested by Miller Home Improvement customers in Fort Worth and Dallas. Joe Builder & Associates, bathroom designs are something we’ve had a lot of experience with. We’ve helped homeowners with every type of bathroom remodeling — from a simple facelift that updates an existing room to a second or third bathroom addition for family members or guests. Whether you’re remodeling an existing bathroom or adding a new one, a well-planned and well-done bathroom design can make your bathroom a warm, peaceful place to relax and can immediately increase the value of your house. Bathroom remodeling can return most of its cost in value added to your house. Bathroom remodeling can also save you time during the hectic rush at the beginning of the workday and make your home a more comfortable place to come home to after the workday ends.

Deciding on the Right Bathroom Remodel for You

Joe Builder & Associates will help you determine how extensive the bathroom remodel needs to be, based on the space available and the budget you’re working with. You can start by identifying the reasons you feel the need for the bathroom renovation. Homeowners typically want to re-do bathrooms for one of these reasons:

  • Updated bathrooms help sell houses. Bathrooms and kitchens, in particular, are important rooms to potential buyers. When a bathroom design is up to date, functional, and attractive, it’s one more reason a buyer will be interested in making an offer on your home. If you’re doing a bathroom renovation primarily to sell your house, even a modest bathroom remodel can accomplish what’s needed and create a clean, attractive space at the same time.
  • An additional bathroom can accommodate family members and guests. If a congested bathroom regularly adds to the family’s stress level in the morning, you can build an additional bathroom and get immediate relief. By converting space currently used for other purposes, you can accommodate the teenager who takes hours in the shower or the house guest who needs some privacy. If you’re adding a second or third bathroom to meet your family’s needs, you may want to consider doing a less extensive bathroom remodel in the original room at the same time, to get the most for your home improvement dollars.
  • A bathroom renovation can add luxury to your life. Because the bathroom is one of the most frequently visited rooms in the house, many homeowners want more than the basics. If you’re looking for more luxury in addition to more functionality, you can select from high-end fixtures, appliances, designs, and décor options to give you that touch of luxury you’ve always wanted. With the right planning and the right budget, you can turn an ordinary bathroom into a haven that offers you hours of relaxation without leaving your home.

Preparing the Bathroom Designs

Whatever your reason for wanting a bathroom remodel, your Joe Builder & Associates representative has the expertise to help you identify the changes you’re looking for. Your Joe Builder & Associates representative will visit you at home, look over your existing bathroom arrangements, talk with you about your home renovation goals, discuss options, draw up plans, show you samples, and help you make the necessary decisions about the home improvement remodeling work you want to undertake.

Some Important Bathroom Renovation Considerations

Your Joe Builder & Associates representative will discuss with you key considerations that can affect how well your new bathroom designs will meet your needs. Here are some of the important factors you’ll want to consider:

  • Bathroom renovations make a statement. If you’re optimizing your home’s appeal in preparation for putting it on the market, even a modest bathroom remodel of your existing room can make a significant difference to prospective buyers. Adding cabinets to accommodate the storage of additional linens and supplies, installing new hardware on existing cabinets, updating a shower enclosure, and replacing worn fixtures are all good options for adding appeal and increasing your home’s value. Based on years of experience with bathroom designs, your Miller Home Improvement representative will have several ideas for you to consider.
  • A good bathroom design serves family members more efficiently. To relieve morning and evening crowding in your existing bathroom, yourJoe Builder & Associates representative can suggest a bathroom renovation plan that can accommodate every family member more comfortably. For example, adding a second sink when the space is available makes it possible for two family members to access the water at the same time. Adding safety latches and other safety features may allow a child to use an existing bathroom more independently. An aging parent or a family member with special needs can use the bathroom more successfully when a barrier-free shower entrance, a built-in shower seat, and grab bars are available and when interior clearances allow enough room to accommodate a walker or other assistive devices. With a wealth of experience, your Joe Builder & Associates representative can help you develop a bathroom remodeling plan that helps your existing arrangements work better for everyone.
  • Fixtures, appliances, and the finishing touches can be basic or luxurious. Whether you select a plain, serviceable tub, shower, toilet, and sink or opt for a multiple-head shower, a spa-steam system, or a sauna, your Joe Builder & Associates representative can introduce you to options that fit a budget of any size. You can choose from cabinet finishes, hardware, flooring, and lighting selections that come in a wide range of styles and prices.
  • Vanity cabinets and other storage spaces. Whether you’re updating your existing cabinets or replacing them with new ones, your Joe Builder & Associatesrepresentative can help you decide on cabinet sizes, designs, materials, finishes, hardware, and shelving options that fit in with your overall look, give you more storage options, and make the best use of the available space.
  • Plumbing, electrical, framing, drywall, and other work. For more in-depth bathroom renovations, your Miller Home Improvement representative will discuss with you the demolition, plumbing, and wiring work that needs to be completed. If your bathroom layout is being changed, walls and floors will need to be re-done. The Joe Builder & Associates builders, licensed and experienced in bathroom construction, can repair or replace existing plumbing and electrical systems so these systems meet current building code requirements. Heating and ventilation requirements will also be addressed.
  • Countertops, sinks, backsplashes, and wall treatments add to the visual appeal. As with your kitchen, your bathroom countertops, sinks, backsplashes, and wall treatments come in a range of colors, materials, and prices. Your Joe Builder & Associates representative will help you decide on the options that best fit with your bathroom remodel.

The Joe Builder & Associates Estimate and Agreement

Once you and your Miller Home Improvement representative have finalized your bathroom designs, your Miller Home Improvement representative will estimate the cost of your home improvements and provide you with an itemized list that outlines the required materials, labor, and other purchases. You and your Miller Home Improvement representative can make changes based on your budget and your priorities.

When you sign the agreement to begin the project, you will be asked to pay a deposit on the work to come, so that materials can be purchased and your bathroom remodeling project can get started. Your payment plan will be clearly outlined. You will be asked for an initial payment when the agreement is signed, another payment when demolition is complete, and the remainder upon final inspection. Your Miller Home Improvement representative will develop a payment plan that’s comfortable for you.

Getting Started: Work Schedule, Permits, and Inspections

Your Miller Home Improvement representative will review with you how the bathroom remodeling work will proceed. Depending on the scope of the project, a typical work schedule proceeds in this way:

  • obtaining work permits
  • tearing out existing fixtures, appliances, and other materials
  • completing plumbing and electrical work
  • installing heating and ventilation devices
  • re-framing walls
  • adding or replacing doors, windows, and skylights
  • arranging for inspections
  • installing tub, shower, and toilet
  • replacing floors and drywall
  • installing cabinets, countertops, backsplashes, sinks, and faucets
  • completing final décor applications
  • completing the walk-through

Throughout the bathroom remodeling process, your Joe Builder & Associates representative will meet with you regularly, update you on the progress of your bathroom renovations, review the next steps, answer your questions, and assist you in any other way. When the project is more extensive, your Miller representative will work with you so you can maintain access to the bathroom facilities while construction is underway.
